Thailand Equestrian :: 10 Best Highlights of 2013

Before we move on to the new year, let's look back at the best highlights in year 2013.

"Borrow Horse Event of the Year"

2013 was a year of borrow horse events but the most successful one is the first and foremost borrow horse event CSIY-B Bangkok which attracted over 40 riders from 10 countries to compete on our home ground. The event competed on 100-110 cm height and Thailand won both individual and team competition.

FEI Show Jumping World Cup SEA League CSI 1*
"High Level Show Jumping Thailand - Indonesia"

FEI Show Jumping World Cup South East Asian League 2013 this year consisted of 3 rounds: 2 in Indonesia and 1 in Thailand. At last Indonesian Rider Adi Katompo won the Final as he took the winning title from 2 out of 3 rounds. The Second place went to Ferry Sutoyo and the Third to Thai rider Munsika Piyavidtayakarn.

"Top-Notch Event"

Thailand Championships is one of the most prestigious events for Thai riders as it features the highest trophy "the King's Cup". It is also one of the major and the most difficult leagues in Thailand (with many qualified rounds). Over years, we see various improvements in this event; from more world-class settings i.e. competition arena and its facilities, more major sponsors obtained, to many more international officials & riders invited to the event.

"The Prestige Night"

HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana presided over the opening ceremony of Thailand Equestrian Rising Star Award Night in October 2013 and presented the Rising Star Awards to the up and coming youth riders who made the best performance in each discipline.

Supap Khaw-Ngam 
"Top Performance"

Supap Khaw-Ngam or Kru Pap, a keen rider in Eventing and Show Jumping, has been competing and training intensively. Supap and the super calm partner Ardbohill Lad competed from FEI Asian Eventing Championships, CIC 2star to Derby Show Jumping Competition and won all the grand prizes.

Prutirat R. Serireongrith 
"Endurance Achievement"

Prutirat R. Serireungrit completed in Endurance 160 Km at Meydan FEI Open European Endurance Championship 2013 (Czech Republic) with the 11-year-old Gelding Shardell Prince Ali. He earned 11th Place out of 87 combinations. Prutirat also won the International Achievement Award from Thailand Equestrian Federation for the best performance he achieved to date in Endurance discipline.

Siengsaw Lertratanachai
"Thai Youth Rider in International Scene"

A 17-year-old rider from Thailand "Siengsaw Lertratanachai" won Silver medal (out of 21 riders) from the FEI World Jumping Challenge Final 2013 in Caracas, Venezuela. Siengsaw was one of the two riders from Zone 9 (South Asia/South East Asia) who took best score in FEI World Jumping Challenge season 2012-2013 and were selected to compete in the Final along with the other riders all over the world. The FEI World Jumping Challenge Final 2013 was  the borrow horse competition.

The first ever FEI Asian Eventing Championship held for the first time in Asia. The event was participated by 5 nations where the Thai team (Supap Khaw-Ngam, Weerapat Pitakanonda, Thanaporn Chavatanont, Preecha Khunjan) took the winning Gold medal and Hong Kong rider Annie Ho brought home the individual gold. FEI Asian Eventing Championship was praised by the FEI president HRH Princess Haya Al Hussein at the FEI General Assembly last november for an excellent job in putting together the event. India will be hosting the 2nd edition of this event in 2015.

HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana
"Riding for Thailand"

Thailand Princess "HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana" was part of the Thai National Dressage Team for SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar. With the love of horse riding since young age, the Princess came back for full training and competition in 2012 and went to study at Le Cadre Noir, Ecole Nationale d'Equitation in Saumur, France for one full year until graduated in July 2013 prior to the SEA Games in December. At SEA Games, HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana riding Htate Kwet took the best score for Team Thailand at 63.069% and went on the Top 12 in Individual Round which she was placed 10th in Individual Dressage.

SEA Games Myanmar 2013 
"Two Medals for Thailand Equestrian"

They are the last medals of the year and the last medals we are so proud of. We are talking about the recent SEA Games Myanmar 2013 where we won the best individual medal (Silver) for Show Jumping since 1995 and the Bronze medal for Team Show Jumping after 8 years missing. The SEA Games Show Jumping had 7 countries participating which include Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, The Philippines and Thailand.
